Public Hearing for Discontinuance of Grassley and Deer Grove Roads February 15, 2011

PUBLIC HEARING
OF FEBRUARY 15, 2011

Chairperson Lu Peet called the Public Hearing to order at 6:02PM. The issue for discussion is to discontinue Deer Grove and Grassley Roads. Jeff Fullington of Deer Grove Resort said it was a non-issue for them, he had been maintaining the roads for years.   Peet asked if we needed to keep Grassley Road open for the DNR to maintain the dam at the end of that road. Someone had called her about that. It was felt that since the dam is private property, the Lundberg’s would allow the DNR to access the dam if they needed to. Town Roads Foreman Bob Lang felt it is in the best interests of the town to discontinue the roads as we pay far more to maintain them than what we get in Transportation aids from the state. Peet also had been told that there was public land at the end of the road, as years ago people held picnics there. It was felt that the Lundberg’s held interest to all the property around the dam and it was not public property. David Pease said the dam was built by his father around 1922. It was sold then to the Lundberg’s. The DNR put the concrete spillway in around 1950.
There was no one present who objected to the discontinuance of Deer Grove or Grassley Roads. The Public Hearing was adjourned around 6:15PM.

Respectfully Submitted,

Elaine J. Brustad,
Clerk-Treasurer
Dated this 7th day of March, 2011
