OPEN BOOK, your opportunity to meet with the assessor, will be Tuesday, April 14th from 2-4pm in the Town Hall.  The Board of Review will be on Wed. May 6th, from 2-4pm.

The 2020 Census is here!  The Official 2020 Census day is April 1, 2020!

Mailings began in mid-March. This year’s census has an online option for computers, tablets and phones. Enter your street address to completed the nine questions. Did you know that each person completing the census represents approximately $13,000 in state and federal funding for Wisconsin? Census data is not sold nor shared in any way.

THE NEW EMERGENCY SERVICES BUILDING IS COMPLETE!  An Open House is scheduled for June 6th.  The Highway Department now occupies the entire garage building.  See pictures here.

Census Workers are needed!  You can apply online at or call 1-855-JOB-2020.  The pay is $19/hr (up to 20 hours per week) and will start in April and continue thru the summer.

THE SPRING ELECTION IS ON APRIL 7TH, voting will take place at the Town Hall.  May 12 is the Special Election (for Congressional District 7 seat vacated by Sean Duffy), August 11 is the Partisan Primary and November 3 is the General Election. You can register to vote, request absentee ballots and see sample ballots online at

Tom Emerson and Seana Frint's Town Board terms end in April of 2020.  Supervisor Emerson has filed a Declaration of Non-Candidacy and Seana Frint is running for re-election.  Eric Neff is running for Board Supervisor.

UPDATE:  The Transfer Site will only be open WEDNESDAYS until further notice, 8am-2pm.  THE BRUSH PIT WILL ONLY BE OPEN WHEN THE TRANSFER SITE IS OPEN.

Barnes Emergency Services sent out letters to property owners in an effort to raise funds for our new Emergency Services Building and to purchase an extractor washing machine to remove cancer toxins from their gear.  To date, over $67,000 has been donated!  The fund raising goal is $125,000.   The Town has a brokerage account so we accept stock donations!  Contact the clerk for more information.

Tracy Pooler is the Bayfield County Ass't Zoning Administrator -contact him at 715-373-6138 for Planning and Zoning questions.  He has office hours in Barnes on Tuesdays from 10-12pm.
