April 23, 2007 MeetingEWM Committee meeting Monday, April 23, 2007 6:30 p.m. Barnes Town Hall Ingemar Ekstrom called the meeting to order. Members present: Ingemar Ekstrom, Mitch McGee, Lee Wiesner, Barb Romstad, Dave Pease, Stefania Strzalkowska, Gerald Gustafson, John Kudlas, Patti Joswick, Jim Joswick Agenda items: 1. Minutes from the February 19, 2007 Minutes from the last meeting were reviewed. A motion to accept the minutes as submitted was made by Mitch McGee, seconded by Dave Pease, passed. 2. Gerald Gustafson reported on Web Page activity Gerald converted PDF files in the EWM report to text files, dramatically reducing the size of the files. These still need to be edited and a decision needs to be made as to whether they should be posted to the Web site. Some work still needs to be done concerning content. 3. Hiring of CBCW grant personnel We had 10 applicants that arrived on time, two late. We interviewed six people and hired five; three boat landing monitors, one coordinator, and one substitute. · Boat Landing Coordinator: Jack Conklin · Boat Landing Monitors: o Drew Carlson o Charles Corlett o David Pederson · Substitute: John Kudlas 4. Training for Personnel Training will take place May 4th, 2007 at 1:00 PM at the Barnes Town Hall. Persons in charge of training: Jack will be trained earlier in the day, 10:00 AM; John will show Jack around the landings and review the kit contents with him. Ingemar will review Jack’s supervisory responsibilities with him. John, Lee and Dave will conduct the training in the afternoon. 5. Boat Landing Volunteers John provided the names of two people interested in volunteering. Lee has a list of volunteer names for Lower Eau Claire, Upper Eau Claire, Middle Eau Claire and some smaller lakes. Discussion took place, placing additional names to the lists. Some discussion took place concerning the volunteer efforts for identifying weeds on lakes and helping to control EWM on lakes. A proposal to have an informational program at the Property Owners Meeting was discussed. 6. Documenting CBCW hours Gus handed out paperwork that will help to document the labor hours, volunteer and paid, for the CBCW workers. Gus will get the volunteer hours for monthly meetings from the minutes. Volunteers’ time in sub-committee meetings and other labor will be submitted on individual sheets at every meeting. Gus reviewed the procedures for completing the paperwork accurately. 7. Tomahawk and Sandbar Lakes project The DNR and the US Army Corps of Engineers will have a meeting for the property owners of Sandbar and Tomahawk Lakes on Sunday, June 3, at 1:00 PM in the afternoon at the Barnes Town Hall. A mailing will be sent to the property owners ASAP advising them of the meeting. 8. Next Meeting Date – Monday, May 21, 2007, 6:30 pm at the Town Hall Motion to Adjourn: Mitch McGee; seconded by Lee Wiesner; passed. Meeting adjourned at 9:00 P.M. |
