New Voting Machines

The Town of Barnes is using the new voting equipment. Federal law requires every polling place in the state have voting equipment that´s accessible to people with Disabilities. Any voter can use it, of course, but the reason for the new equipment is to make it easier for all people to vote at their polling place. Wisconsin now requires a voter-verifiable paper record for all voting equipment. That means that all of the new equipment must produce those records so voters can check them, if they choose, before they leave the polling place. Anyone with questions on the new voting equipment can contact the Clerk-Treasurer at 795-2782. A public demonstration was given of the new voting machine and tabulator. There will be another demonstration of the machines before the general election.
