SPECIAL TOWN BOARD MEETING
Of October 6, 2011
Chairperson Lu Peet called the Special Town Board Meeting to order at 5:02PM. Roll call was taken and all were present. Clerk-Treasurer Brustad verified the meeting was posted as required. The agenda for the meeting is as follows:
1) Discussion and Approval of Amendment to Ambulance Contract with Town of Highland
2) Closed Session. The Town Board of the Town of Barnes will meet in regular session to go into a closed session pursuant to State Statute 19.85(c) “considering employment, promotion, compensation or performance evaluation data of any public employee over which the governmental body has jurisdiction or exercises responsibility. The board will reconvene to the regular session immediately after the closed session. The purpose of this closed session is for an employee annual review.
3) Budget review for 2012 budget
Copies of the proposed Highland contract amendment were given to the Board members for review prior to the meeting. Fire Chief Renz was not present, although Brustad said it was mainly clarification on the Barnes Fire Department’s intent to supply mutual aid to the Town of Highland at no charge.
Motion ( Webb/Meinke) to amend that portion of the ambulance contract with Highland that covers the first response for fire suppression. Roll call vote taken and all responded yes. Motion carried. Brustad will get the signed document to Renz for delivery to the Town of Highland.
Motion (Porter/McGee) to go into closed session pursuant to State Statute 19.85(c) “considering employment, promotion, compensation or performance evaluation data of any public employee over which the governmental body has jurisdiction or exercises responsibility. The board will reconvene to the regular session immediately after the closed session. The purpose of this closed session is for employee annual reviews. Roll call vote taken and all responded yes. Motion carried.
Motion (Porter/Meinke) to return to open session. Motion carried. The board returned to Open Session at 5:45 PM.
Brustad explained that almost everything was input into the new budget for their review. A few items still needed to be discussed, mainly with Bob Lang and what his intentions were for anything additional to be taken out of road work outlay this year. Liquor license publication fees should be increased as it costs us at least $20.00-25.00 for each one to be published. This will be put on the agenda also for the October regular meeting for approval. At the regular town board meeting the board will also discuss and approve wage increases for highway employees. The board felt one more meeting should be sufficient to get everything finalized for the budget hearing in November. That hearing will be before the November Town Board meeting on the 15th. The next meeting will be on October 20th at 5:00PM.
Motion (Webb/Peet) to adjourn the Special Town Board meeting of October 6, 2011. Motion carried. The meeting adjourned at 6:50PM.
Dated this 13th Day of October, 2011
Respectfully Submitted, Elaine Brustad, Clerk-Treasurer
