MINUTES OF THE COMPREHENMSIVE LAND USE COMMITTEE MEETING

OF AUGUST 23, 2006

Committee members present: Marcia Wellnitz, Dave Pease, Duke Marten, Donna Porter, Gene Ratzel, Lee Wiesner and Leslie Hall.

Also present: Patrick Beilfuss-Cedar Corporation, Tim Kane-UW Extension Agent, Jay Strucel- Plum Creek Timber Company, Earl Gregoire, Carol LeBreck and Mitch McGee.

We dispensed with the reading of the last month’s minutes. Motion (Marcia Wellnitz / Lee Wiesner) to approve the minutes as presented. Call for discussion. Motion carried

We discussed subdivision ordinances and Bayfield County proposed amendments. So far the County has tabled this. We can have ordinance overlays to be more restrictive, but not more lenient.

We went over comparisons of July to August plan implementation drafts. We made some more changes.

Pat and Tim asked Bayfield County Zoning (Karl Kastrosky) “How is Bayfield County going to use the Land Use Plan?” It is not used to rezone, but for making decisions on zoning requests in the future. Individual parcel rezone requests are made and they use the plan on a case-by-case basis as a guide. Zoning stays as it is. If a zoning request change is made and it is consistent with the Land Use Plan, it should be approved. If it isn’t, it should not be approved.

Bill DeRue had an example of zoning or suggestions on forestry districts which Pat distributed.

Lee Wiesner discussed the Lake Management Survey that was mailed. It was sent to all property owners in the watershed.

The next meeting will be Wednesday, September 13, 2006 at 6:30pm at the town hall.

The agenda for the next meeting will be to go over the revisions of the Plan Implementation and begin overall review of the Land Use Plan.
